With several major model overhauls, a new trim line, and even some new models for the 2021 model year, the new Hyundai lineup is looking better than ever. There is no shortage of headline material when looking at what Hyundai is bringing to the table over the next couple of years, and South Bay Hyundai in Torrance is here to help you sort it all out.
What’s New for Hyundai in 2021?
For 2021, Hyundai is overhauling many of its most popular models including the Hyundai Elantra. This compact sedan is getting a wider stance and longer body along with a sharp new design and a sport-tuned variant that we’ll discuss in just a moment. The 2021 Hyundai Elantra will also feature a hybrid variant for the first time ever, giving Redondo Beach drivers an estimated 50 mpg combined fuel economy.
The mid-size Hyundai Sonata has gotten some updates as well, making six-speed power-adjustable passenger seats standard across the entire lineup.
The Veloster N hot hatch now comes standard with the 275-horsepower performance package and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission versus the previous seven-speed model. Safety gets a boost with the new Veloster N as well, with automatic emergency braking, lane assist, and the driver attention monitor now coming as standard.
The compact Hyundai Kona SUV gets a new trim level called the Night Edition that will feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine, black alloy wheels, and black exterior trim to replace the silver and body-colored pieces on standard models.
Finally, the three-row Hyundai Palisade gets a high-end luxury trim called the Calligraphy that offers heated and ventilated seats, premium Nappa leather upholstery, and 16-way power-adjustable front seats.
What is the Hyundai N-Line Trim?
Several 2021 Hyundai models are getting a new N-Line trim level that bridges the gap between the sport-oriented Hyundai Veloster N and some of the more vanilla models in the new Hyundai lineup. N-Line models offer a sport-tuned suspension that improves handling response by controlling body roll, and improves grip with stiffer springs. You’ll also get larger brakes than standard models, and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine gives you 201 horsepower and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. For now, just the Hyundai Elantra and Hyundai Sonata are getting the N-Line treatment, but if it is received well, others could be soon to follow.
What’s Coming for Hyundai in 2022?
While not much has yet been revealed about the upcoming 2022 Hyundai model year, one major model is getting a massive overhaul. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson will look vastly different than the current model, and if you’re in the market for a new mid-size SUV this one might just be worth the wait.
For starters, the new Hyundai Tucson will look vastly different, sporting a bold new design that falls in line with the recently redesigned Hyundai Sonata and Elantra sedans. The N-Line trim level is expected to make its first appearance on an SUV with the upcoming Tucson, improving handling and offering turbocharged power. On the other end of the spectrum, the 2022 Tucson will also be the first Hyundai mid-size SUV to offer a hybrid powertrain.
