Earlier this month, Hyundai Motor America revealed that they had earned a seventh straight year of record sales in the United States. The company sold 775,005 vehicles in 2016, a gain of 1.75 percent; for December, Hyundai sold 60,572 vehicles, a number not seen in more than a decade.
SUV and CUV sales drove the company's sales results. The Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport teamed for a monthly improvement of 14 percent – the model's best month in history – and a double-digit sales gain for the year. Tucson set records for both the December and the year, increasing 4 percent for the month and a noteworthy 41 percent for 2016.
“As consumer confidence surged in December, to the highest level in more than a decade, we were able to capitalize on that and set a new record for sales in 2016,” stated Derrick Hatami, Vice President of National Sales for Hyundai Motor America.
